Professional statement

Maki is on a mission to help clients reclaim control of their lives and be fully authentic to themselves. Having lived in North America, Europe, and Asia, Maki recognizes the importance of providing counseling through cultural humility. She creates a space for clients from diverse backgrounds —including adolescents and young adults—to understand their unique experiences and work through challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, cultural adjustment, interpersonal stress, and more.

Maki understands every client’s needs are different. She uses various modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Psychodynamic approaches to create individualized counseling methods for each client. Her nonjudgmental, empathic approach creates an environment where individuals can safely share their experiences.

Finding the right kind of therapy for you can be a daunting task, but it’s not something you need to face alone. Maki is committed to collaborating with each client to find the best therapeutic approach for them.

Message to clients

Stepping into therapy and engaging in your own personal growth is empowering. We all manage an immense number of stressors in our daily lives and therapy is a space where you can take time to pause, reflect, and grow.

You’re the expert of your life and my role as your therapist is to provide you with insight and understanding into your experiences. We’ll work together to safely explore, unpack, and learn new ways of navigating complex situations and emotions so you can create change in your life.
