Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFTMalinda Bilbrey is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Los Angeles, CA. Malinda is passionate about giving individuals the tools they need to live without distress. She mainly works with clients whose anxiety or depression gets in the way of healthy relationships, career satisfaction, or self-worth. Often, her clients’ mental health becomes exacerbated by trauma or major life changes like divorce, loss of work, or climate change, which leave clients to struggle with feeling sad, lonely, panicky, frustrated, disappointed, hypervigilant, or exhausted.
Malinda provides clients with a non judgmental, supportive atmosphere in each session. Her goal is to help clients find mindful balance where they feel whole and connected to their authentic selves. Clients learn how to boost their self-awareness through mindfulness exercises like meditation or grounding techniques. Clients also learn how to become more aware of their thought patterns through a therapy modality called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Malinda guides clients through eliminating the negative thought patterns that hold them back. For those whose trauma backgrounds lead to distress, she practices Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. EMDR therapy helps individuals’ brains to process through the painful memories that come with trauma, while also giving clients emotional regulation tools. Malinda encourages clients to move through their therapy journeys at their own pace so they can benefit from a greater understanding of the self.
Malinda earned a Master’s degree from Chapman University. She has over 15 years of experience working in the mental health field. Clients improve their coping skills, problem solving skills, and stress management skills through working with Malinda, allowing them to overcome any obstacles that arise in their lives.
