Professional statement

Marci Zago is a therapist who works with individuals and couples seeking support through a wide range of emotional, relational, and life challenges. Her clients often come to therapy looking to improve self-esteem, reduce anxiety, strengthen relationships, or simply feel more confident in navigating life’s transitions. Marci welcomes clients from all backgrounds and works with people who are motivated to grow in self-awareness and develop healthier patterns.

Her approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based practices. Marci draws from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, and strengths-based approaches to help clients identify unhelpful patterns, clarify their goals, and take practical steps toward change. She also supports clients in developing greater self-trust and reducing dependence on external validation.

Marci holds a master’s degree in counseling and brings experience working with diverse populations. She is committed to culturally responsive care and creates an affirming space where clients feel safe to explore vulnerable emotions and experiences. Whether working with individuals or couples, she helps clients improve communication, reconnect with their values, and move through challenges with greater resilience.

Marci offers teletherapy for clients located in Illinois and has evening and weekend appointments available to accommodate busy schedules.

Message to clients

Starting therapy is a courageous step, and I want you to know that you don’t have to have everything figured out to begin. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, uncertain, or simply curious about exploring yourself more deeply, you are welcome here just as you are.

My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and supported without judgment. I approach therapy with compassion, curiosity, and respect for your unique story. I’ll work with you to better understand what’s getting in the way—whether it’s anxiety, self-doubt, relationship struggles, or something harder to name—and help you identify tools and insights that can lead to meaningful change.

Our work together will be collaborative. I believe you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to help you uncover patterns, reconnect with your strengths, and move toward the life you want. You don’t need to show up perfectly—just honestly. I’ll meet you there.
