Professional statement

Marielle Tawil, LMSW, is a psychotherapist who works with individuals and couples navigating OCD, anxiety, and relationship challenges. She has particular expertise in supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and those exploring identity, life transitions, and emotional intimacy.

Her therapeutic approach is rooted in psychodynamic theory, emphasizing curiosity, reflection, and insight. For OCD, she integrates Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), including Rumination-Focused ERP. With couples, she draws from Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method to improve communication and deepen connection.

Marielle holds a Master of Social Work from Columbia University and a B.A. from NYU in English and American Literature, with minors in Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Religious Studies. She has completed training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and is certified in Level 1 of the Gottman Method.

Marielle sees clients in person one day a week in SoHo, New York City, and offers virtual sessions throughout the rest of the week. She is licensed in New York, New Jersey, Florida, and Minnesota.

Message to clients

Therapy is a space where you don’t need to have everything figured out. You don’t need the perfect words or a clear plan to start. My role is to meet you where you are—with warmth, honesty, and curiosity—and to help you explore whatever is coming up, at a pace that feels manageable for you.

I believe that real change happens through a collaborative process built on trust, reflection, and a willingness to look a little more closely. My hope is that our sessions will be a space where you feel grounded and supported—where we can talk openly, make sense of what’s feeling stuck or overwhelming, and work toward something more sustainable. Whether you're navigating anxiety, OCD, relationship challenges, we’ll take it one step at a time.

It’s completely normal to feel unsure or even a bit hesitant about starting therapy. If you have questions or just want to get a feel for how I work, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation. You’re welcome to reach out when you’re ready.
