Message to clients

HOW I WORK:

If you have willingness to consider new perspectives and to receive active support, to collaborate, and take small positive actions, let’s get started on your healing and recovery.

You may not be sure if you have disordered eating but you've developed disrupted relationships to food and body. A thorough evaluation with me is a good place to start.

I’ll help you understand that an eating disorder often develops because of biology and family history. We’ll review how cultural/social messages, along with repetitive patterns of eating or exercise shaped you, your behaviors, and beliefs.

We'll focus on your strengths, how to help you build a life worth living, how to find community, purpose, and joy.

We’ll celebrate the creativity and genius of your survival. Emotional eating, restricting, purging or exercising may provide temporary relief, but we can learn how it functions to soothe you and find other more lasting ways to cope.

We'll explore the values of self acceptance and growth. Recovery from depression, trauma, and stress is a process not an event. I will persist with you and help you learn how to persist in tough times.

Most importantly, I hope to help you develop curiosity and compassion for yourself; to transform any bullying or judgmental voices from your past, to ones of encouragement and love.
