Marisol is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience providing services to children, adults, couples and families. She received her Masters in Social Work from Columbia University where she was honored with the National Association of Social Workers Award for Student of the Year.
Seeking excellence as a student also translated to her approach to therapy; Witnessing how the family unit proved such a defining factor in an individual’s life, Marisol pursued extensive training in Family Therapy, including completing three years of post-graduate clinical training at the Family Institute of Westchester. Being a trained Family Therapist does not limit her work to families. Instead, it allows her to use a family systems lens to understand clients within their historical and current family context.
Marisol has also developed expertise in evidence-based clinical interventions that complement her work. She is certified as a Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist and uses CBT and DBT techniques to help clients achieve lasting and impactful emotional and behavioral shifts. In addition, Marisol is trained in Motivational Interviewing, a technique widely utilized as a catalyst to guide individuals towards higher motivation to change unwanted behaviors.
