Professional statement

Maronda Robertson is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor located in Fargo, North Dakota. Maronda helps clients who feel overwhelmed by intense emotions like fear, regret, shame, sadness, or loneliness. Many of her clients find themselves struggling with their anxiety or depression and need the support of a professional counselor who will empathetically listen without judgment. Maronda also works with clients who have ADHD, body image issues, family conflicts, and those who would like to further explore their LGBTQIA identity.

Maronda’s approach to therapy draws from evidence-based therapy modalities such as mindfulness-based therapy practice and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Clients learn how to shift their attention inwards, finding ways to stay present in their thoughts and feelings without judgment, only awareness. Clients also learn how to identify negative thought patterns that lead to distressing feelings, which could include self-criticism, assumptions, or black and white thinking. Maronda also encourages clients to reflect on their motivation behind certain behaviors, and to continue to assess their motivation throughout times of heavy change. Therapy with Maronda is affirming, culturally-sensitive, and trauma-focused. Maronda strives to create a safe atmosphere in all sessions so that clients feel welcome as they talk about their struggles.

Maronda earned a Master’s degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She has nearly 20 years of experience working with clients across a wide range of settings. She is a licensed additional counselor and believes that clients shouldn’t have to face their distress by themselves.
