Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFTShe/Her/Hers
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFTMartha Uhl is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Studio City, CA. She is passionate about helping clients manage their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that keep them from leading fulfilling lives. Most of Martha’s clients arrive in therapy knowing that they are struggling, but unsure of the steps to take to help them improve their day to day life.
Martha works collaboratively with her clients to identify goals that will help clients move toward the life they imagine. Martha uses a variety of therapeutic approaches to help clients reach their goals. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps clients grow their understanding of how their thoughts impact how they feel and what they do. Mindfulness helps clients notice their thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. Family Systems Theory helps clients to unpack the ways of being that they learned from their families. And EMDR can be used when working to heal from trauma or other difficult life experiences that have a lasting impact.
Martha uses non-judgmental curiosity to know her clients in a deep way that helps them know and understand themselves better. Her openness and acceptance help clients feel safe in therapy and helps them explore questions and concerns that may have felt too difficult to explore before. She asks a lot of questions in session and isn’t afraid to challenge clients when helpful. Perhaps most importantly, she believes that everyone is capable of finding fulfillment and contentment in their lives.
Martha earned a Master’s degree in Counseling with a focus in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University Northridge. She has multiple years of experience working with clients across a number of settings including community mental health, substance abuse treatment centers, and private practice.
