Dr. Mary Gallagher is a psychologist in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn specializing in anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma, mindfulness, and compulsive behaviors. She received pre-doctoral training at the Montefiore Medical Center and went on to receive her Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from Yeshiva University’s Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. She is a skilled clinician, highly competent in providing individual, family, and group therapy teenagers, young adults, and adults.

Having received specialized training in both focus areas, Dr. Gallagher’s area of expertise lies in supporting individuals with OCD and trauma. For clients with OCD, she takes an evidence-based approach using exposure response therapy, gently guiding individuals to be exposed to their fear or compulsive ritual in a very structured way. For clients with trauma, she uses prolonged exposure or cognitive processing therapy and draws upon dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and works with each individual to build coping skills, unique to each person’s symptoms. At the heart of her practice is a focus on helping clients, particularly those with anxiety or depression, with emotion regulation by helping them build skills to identify and change how they feel.
