Mason Adams, BA, LCDP, has over six years of professional experience assisting clients to recover from addiction by addressing its root causes: underlying mental health issues and un-processed traumas.
Mason has worked with a wide range of clients. He began providing counseling for opioid addiction in 2017 at a medication-assisted treatment clinic. Then he transitioned to providing substance use assessments and individual sessions for those involved with Rhode Island's Department of Children, Youth, and Families.
In 2019, during the onset and throughout the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mason was contracted by the United States Navy. He worked on the Submarine Base in Groton, Connecticut, treating our service members needing substance abuse rehabilitation. He provided individual counseling sessions, led group meetings, and taught addiction and psychoeducational workshops for their intensive outpatient program.
Recently, Mason returned to the civilian sector and has continued treating clients struggling with addiction and co-occurring mental health issues. His passion for and commitment to the therapeutic process and the satisfaction of witnessing his clients undergo personal transformation inspired him to open his private practice, True Change Addiction Therapy.
