Dr. Meghan Hammel is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in private practice providing telehealth services to clients in Arizona and California. She works to support women during the transitions of young adulthood (school stress, work roles, new relationships), during pregnancy and postpartum experiences, and through challenges of the early parenting years. Many of her clients describe periods of heightened stress during these transitions, as well as symptoms of depression, anxiety/panic, sleep problems, irritability/anger, grief, guilt, and loneliness/isolation. Clients may feel overwhelmed by daily stressors, role transitions, relationship challenges, or feel burned out by work and managing the parenting load.
Therapy sessions with Dr. Hammel integrate strategies from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and self-compassion. She strives to help clients explore their experiences, thoughts, emotions, and identify personal values with a plan for action. Stress management strategies and effective communication skills may also be discussed to assist in expressing feelings/needs and setting boundaries.
Dr. Hammel’s approach is interactive, encouraging clients to notice thoughts and feelings and offers kindness and compassion to the experience. She works to help clients notice they can step back and decide how they want to proceed/respond versus reacting quickly to difficult thoughts or emotions in the moment. She strives to create a validating, non-judgmental environment where clients can discuss concerns and receive support and strategies to help with coping.
Dr. Hammel offers video sessions Monday-Friday (9AM-2PM). Teletherapy services are offered via SimplePractice, a HIPAA-compliant, video-conference platform. The intake process typically takes between one to two visits (each lasting 50-60 minutes). Follow-up therapy sessions typically last 50 minutes. We may meet weekly in the beginning of therapy and reduce how often we meet over time as you progress in treatment.

I am considered an "out-of-network" provider for all insurance carriers. You will be responsible to pay for your session in full at the time of service, and I can provide you with an itemized bill each month (called a "superbill") for you to submit to your insurance carrier to request reimbursement. Please call your insurance company and ask about their policy on out-of-network behavioral health care. You will want to know the amount of your deductible and what percentage of behavioral health services they will reimburse to you.
