Professional statement

Melissa Bronstein is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Massachusetts, where she works with college/graduate students and young professionals. Melissa specializes in supporting motivated young adults who want to improve their relationships, manage stress, and navigate life transitions. Many of her clients identify as high-achievers and are looking for ways to reduce anxiety and increase balance in their lives. Whether it is feelings of uncertainty about a future career path, struggles with self-esteem and perfectionism, or adjusting to a new medical diagnosis or chronic illness, Melissa partners with her clients to identify goals and create a path forward.

Melissa uses an individualized approach that helps her clients identify their strengths and create lasting change in their lives. Her approach to therapy is strengths-based, integrative and client-centered, meaning she tailors sessions to what her clients need most. She incorporates aspects of CBT, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Self-Compassion throughout her work, and partners with her clients to create a warm, engaging and collaborative space.

Melissa received her MSW from Columbia University School of Social Work, where she specialized in Advanced Clinical Practice. In addition to private practice, she has worked in a variety of clinical settings, ranging from trauma counseling and healthy relationship promotion in New York City public schools to coaching and community-based work with adolescents, caregivers, and young professionals.

Message to clients

Welcome! Taking the first step and reaching out for help can feel daunting, and my goal is for the therapy process to feel as comfortable and straightforward as possible.

Many of my clients identify as high-achieving young professionals who have “taken all the right steps”, yet are still feeling anxious or uncertain. On paper, they are doing great and seem to have it all together, but inside they’re struggling with feelings of imposter syndrome or like they don’t know if they’re on the right path.

These times of uncertainty, while challenging, can often lead us to stages of significant reflection, growth, and transformation. I aim to create an empowering and nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable to enact change and reach your goals.

I'm here to help you gain the tools and skills necessary to thrive in the face of challenges. Together, we will identify your goals and work collaboratively with an individualized and strengths-based approach. Through our work, we will spend some time exploring your past while also ensuring that we’re taking action-oriented steps to keep you moving forward!

Everyone has a story worth telling, and I consider it a privilege to be able to listen to and learn from my clients.
