Professional statement

Melissa Janosek (she/her) is a licensed clinical therapist based in San Francisco specializing in work with students and career professionals who are navigating the ups and downs of adulthood. She specializes in supporting clients on the path to creating a meaningful, joyful life! This process may involve developing a stronger sense of self awareness, emotional engagement, determining core values, exploring limiting beliefs standing in the way.

Melissa Janosek completed clinical training at Barry University in Miami, FL in 2005. Her professional pursuits led her to the Bay Area, a slice of California that she considers home after having spent the majority of her career working between Oakland and San Francisco. Her clinical orientation encompasses evidence based practices such as CBT, EFT, relational and strengths based modalities to provide an integrated therapy approach that is tailored to your needs. Melissa Janosek brings 20 years of professional experience in the healthcare and mental health industry to her private practice having worked in a variety of settings providing direct clinical services to program development, management and clinical supervision.

For the safety of the community during the pandemic and to increase access for mental health support psychotherapy services have moved online. Clients are able to receive the same high quality care through Telehealth without ever having to commute to an office or look for parking! You will just need a good WiFi connection and a private space to talk to begin. Ideally sessions are held on a weekly basis following a free initial phone consultation for clients based anywhere in California.

Message to clients

I find that it is so imperative to invest in personal development in order to find out what it is you really want in life and who you truly are. Therapy can provide a space where you may press the pause button to get in touch with how you are really feeling about the important areas in your life and where you may make important discoveries about yourself with a professional who is absolutely rooting for your success.

I believe in creating a nonjudgemental space where you can come as you are- not the perfect, polished version you may feel pressure to be in the world. I bring my own life experience, blended with extensive training and evidence based therapy practices to meet you where you are currently and work together to take you where you want to go. I am passionate about aligning myself with clients to support them through life transitions, achieving work/life balance, coaching around dating and communication skills, assertiveness training, boundaries and goal attainment to name a few! I believe that therapy should be a collaborative process and prioritize working on client identified treatment goals at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

I aim to strike a balance of compassion, sense of humor, and being real in my psychotherapy practice. I am genuinely excited for anyone who made the decision to devote time in the week to tuning in with yourself and to see where this may lead!
