Professional statement

Melissa Janosek, LCSW specializes in work with college students and career professionals who are navigating the roller coaster of adulthood.

Are you trying to figure out who you are, what you want, and how to get there? Does it seem like you think differently than others, procrastinate too often, are having trouble focusing, and feeling stuck? Starting to question if all the partying is getting in the way of your goals? Ready to blow up your life if things don't change? Got a nagging feeling you may need more support than you currently have? Need clarity on your relationships and help on how to communicate things? Not sure about your career path, or totally burned out with the one you're in? Do you feel like you should have it all figured out by now? Let's get into it.

Melissa completed clinical training in Miami and resides in the Bay Area. Her orientation encompasses evidence based practices, lots of lived experience, and about twenty years of professional experience in the mental health industry providing direct clinical services to program management. She aims to be culturally sensitive, LGBTQIA+ friendly, and neurodivergent affirming.

Her psychotherapy practice remains online at this time. This means you get the same high quality care through Telehealth without ever having to look for parking! Or see a Bay Area therapist from Florida! Ideally sessions are held on a weekly basis following a free initial phone consultation for clients based anywhere in California and Florida. If you have been curious about trying therapy, this is a great time to start.

Message to clients

Is one of your goals for 2023 to try therapy? Are you having trouble starting because the process of sorting through all the profiles to figure out who you will connect is so overwhelming? I understand and have been there, looking for the trusted guides who I can be my whole self with and who get me.

I believe in creating a nonjudgemental space where you can come as you are- not the perfect, polished version you may feel pressure to be in the world or online! I am passionate about meeting clients in their defining moments and discovering what is standing in the way of getting the life YOU truly want.

My hope is that I can be a grounded, fully supportive force in your life who really listens, cares about your dreams and ideas, wants to help you make plans that match who you are, and can help you identify the tools you need for success. I believe that therapy is a highly collaborative process and prioritize working on client identified treatment goals at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

I aim to strike a balance of compassion, sense of humor, and being real in my psychotherapy practice. I am genuinely excited for anyone who made the decision to dedicate this time out in the week to tune in with yourself and to see where this may lead you!
