Mercy Burton Russell, LCSW, EDD is a clinical social worker licensed in Vermont and Arizona and available online. She works with adolescents, adults, couples and families. Many of Mercy’s clients come in when they are struggling in relationships at home or at work. They may be anxious, worried about addictions, their attention or performance. Some clients are grappling with the effects of traumatic events. Mercy is particularly passionate about the role of family relationships over the course of the lifespan. She has extensive experience and expertise in family and organizational relationship systems. Trained in neurofeedback and EMDR, she has a special interest in managing anxiety and optimizing performance.

Mercy’s brings a research attitude to her sessions. She wants to help you find out what you need to know and what works well for you. Mercy received her clinical training at the Neuropsychiatric Institute at UCLA and in the Bowen Family Systems network. She studied educational policy and leadership at the University of Vermont. As an undergraduate she was pre-med and studied English literature at Carleton College. She is comfortable with many challenges due to the breadth of her experience in child and family therapy, EAP programs, addiction treatment, treatment of childhood sexual abuse and offenders, psychophysiology and many years in private practice with couples and individuals. Outside of private practice, Mercy enjoys her large family, many friends, travel and the outdoors.
