Merra Albosta is a duly-licensed counselor in the states of Massachusetts and Wisconsin. While historically Merra has worked with a diverse population, she currently chooses to focus on serving adults who value and/or strongly prefer integrating their Christian faith with therapy. However, while this is her chosen area of focus, Merra also deeply values using her talents and skills to alleviate mental and emotional suffering: period. Merra typically finds that women who are feeling stuck, worn out, beat down, exhausted, ashamed and overwhelmed make their way into her “office.”
Merra approaches the counseling relationship from an ACT-based perspective. ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) is a mindfulness-based and values-driven approach, with hefty doses of compassion mixed in. The purpose of ACT is to support you in learning new skills and strategies to handle painful emotions/thoughts/memories/experiences differently so that you can do the things that truly matter to you, and be the person you long to be.
Merra comes alongside you on your therapeutic journey to support you as you climb the mountain of life. Merra teaches you how to use your thoughts and emotions to push you forward into real, lasting change. The wellness model is another critical piece Merra brings to her therapy sessions, and she works hard to help and support the whole person, often using integrative techniques such as movement, nutrition, and aromatherapy. While she is not trauma-trained, she is trauma-informed, and recognizes the impact and importance of past traumatic experiences on current functioning.
Merra’s priority is to offer a safe, compassionate, online environment where clients can be free to “let their guard down.” As an experienced telehealth provider, she offers the convenience of remote sessions to support you in easily accessing mental health services.
