Michael Braverman is a Cognitive Behavior Therapist, who works with clients who are experiencing a variety of difficulties. Some of his specialties include anxiety, depression, ADHD, life transitions, relationship difficulties, work-related stress / work-life balance and emotional dysregulation. Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is an “evidence-based” treatment. That means it has been proven by clinical research to be effective in helping people with a variety of difficulties. Michae receives ongoing training and supervision in CBT at the Beck Institute, birthplace of CBT. He attends workshops and has biweekly supervision sessions with Beck Institute faculty member Robert Hindman, PhD. Dr. Hindman is an expert on integrating mindfulness with CBT. Michael has been accepted into the Beck Institute’s certification program, and will become a certified CBT therapist later this year.
Michael Braverman sees clients in-person at both his Manhattan office and his Hudson Valley office, (in Garrison, New York.) He is also available for Zoom sessions.
Life transitions - Coping with difficult or impactful life changes, such as moving to a new area, relationship transitions, child rearing, or career changes; learning self-care to better manage resulting stress
Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)
Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life
Social anxiety - Helping clients increase confidence and ability to interact with others amidst fear of being judged, worry about embarrassment, or concern about offending others
Emotion regulation - Learning how to effectively manage the ups and downs of intense emotions; developing coping skills to use in a variety of settings to calm oneself and to give an appropriate amount of space to emotions
Dating - Exploring one’s thoughts and beliefs about dating and the values that one brings into the dating world; processing through the ups and downs of meeting new people and starting or ending relationships
