Professional statement

Michael Gallagher is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Burlington, Massachusetts who specializes in helping young adults explore topics of existentialism, heal early childhood trauma, and build meaningful relationships. Michael strives to maintain an environment that is culturally sensitive, LGBT affirmative, and kink, fetish, and fantasy friendly. He particularly enjoys supporting young men to navigate their own masculinity and develop higher emotional attunement.

Michael draws from a range of therapy approaches for his practice – including cognitive behavioral (CBT) and insight-oriented therapies – to connect with each client on a highly personalized level. He often incorporates mindful curiosity as means to access greater self-awareness.

Michael received his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and his Master's in Social Work from Boston College.

Message to clients

Self-discovery and self-recovery is a journey, it takes courage. Starting from birth we enter life with curiosity about ourselves and our capabilities; about the world around us, and how we fit in. Sometimes this journey is seamless, sometimes we get bumps and bruises. Yet regardless of where we are, we can all use some help on our Insightful Direction. It is my great privilege to work with anyone who is eager to understand why they are the way they are and what we can collaboratively work on to feel whole and understood.
