Michael Gallagher is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Burlington, Massachusetts who specializes in helping clients build meaningful relationships, heal trauma, and explore topics of existentialism. He welcomes people of all genders to his practice, and especially enjoys supporting young men as they navigate their own masculinity and develop higher emotional attunement.
A trauma specialist, Michael is sensitive to the impact of adverse early life experiences, even when they don’t fit the mold of what is commonly recognized as traumatic, such as emotionally unavailable or unnurturing parents. By tuning into what underlies symptoms of anxiety and depression, Michael helps clients open up the possibility to view themselves in a new light and make more conscious choices, free of shame and guilt.
In addition to support managing pressing challenges, much of Michael’s work is existential, giving clients space to grapple with big questions about how to make meaning of their life experiences. Michael strives to maintain an environment that is culturally sensitive, LGBT affirmative, and kink, fetish, and fantasy friendly.
Michael received his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and his Master's in Social Work from Boston College. His office is located in Burlington, across from Lahey Hospital.
