Professional statement

Michela Iriti is a Licensed Professional Counselor and also owner of the private practice Above Water Counseling, located in Mount Pleasant, SC. Michela has been working in various facets of the mental health field for the past decade, in settings such as group clinics, hospitals, psychiatry practices and women's shelters. Michela works with individuals as well as couples, helping them to navigate through life events, both exciting and challenging. Above Water Counseling offers both face to face therapy and virtual sessions. Michela's therapeutic approach is one of empathy while also focused on problem solving, the hope is to be a soft and comforting place for clients to express their feelings, while also working to help better their lives, whatever that looks like for the individual or couple, without judgement or biases.

Message to clients

My primary objective as a therapist is always to provide support, comfort and empathy to my patients; my hope is that an individual never feels shame or embarrassment in seeking some extra help to cope with life’s multitude of stressors. I believe that healing can be inspired through feelings of connection and understanding, these are crucial to a healthy therapeutic relationship. The process of seeking therapy or finding a therapist that is the right fit, can be understandably daunting, but I wish to make the process less stressful.

I attempt to approach life with kindness and humility, thus creating a safe and comfortable environment for my clients. I enjoy working with individuals but I specialize in couples work as well, as it can be a particularly intimidating venture to work with a spouse or significant other on communication, trust and connection.

Helping people and providing counseling has been my passion for several years and I love what I do, I believe that shows in my dedication to my clients and compassionate nature.
