Professional statement

Michele Gardner is a psychotherapist in New York City. She works with adults of all ages experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, major life transitions, and difficulties in interpersonal relationships. Michele recognizes that it is easy to feel stuck and discouraged when you’re in pain and don’t know where to turn. Michele works to create a safe and collaborative environment where you can turn to and improve your quality of life.

Michele’s approach is eclectic, and she utilizes the treatment modalities and tools most appropriate for her client’s needs. Your work with Michele will include building better insight into the challenges you face, but also cultivating tangible skills to address those specific issues. Whether you’re feeling disconnected from others around you, you feel held back by negative experiences from the past, or your emotions are difficult to make sense of and navigate; you can improve your emotional wellbeing in therapy.

Michele’s style is warm, engaging and she’s not afraid to leverage humor to aid in the healing process. Michele received her MSW from The University of Michigan. Michele’s work experience includes six years in the non-profit sector doing both therapeutic and case management work. Through this work Michele has extensive experience working with women, working professionals, older adults aging in place, individuals experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence/ intimate partner violence, and individuals experiencing chronic illnesses. Outside of work, Michele enjoys spending time in nature, scenic train rides, traveling around the country, and listening to audiobooks and podcasts. Michele’s practice works with adults virtually. Michele is available to see client’s during the early mornings and evenings.

Message to clients

I believe therapy is a space to slow down and get reconnected with ourselves. In our fast paced world, it’s easy to feel lost, left behind and disconnected. In our work, we will collaborate to better understand your values, how you want to show up in the world and the challenges that are making that difficult. You deserve to be heard and truly seen and therapy is a space where that can happen. In my work I hold space for all the complexities that make us human. If you are tired of feeling stuck and are ready to be seen please reach out to schedule a free 15 minute consultation.
