Licensed Professional Counselor, LPCMonica "Mo" Burge was born and raised in Rome, GA. Collectively Mo is a mental health advocate, therapist, and freelance journalist who works to identify the critical issues affecting the Northwest Georgia area. She is committed to the betterment of her community. She is the president and CEO of A Liberated Mind Alliance (ALMA) Inc., a nonprofit she co-founded with her mother, Teresa Burge.
As a licensed professional counselor, her specialty areas include trauma, grief, anger management, domestic violence, self-esteem, diversity and inclusion, and self-actualization.
Mo will partner with you to help you explore, discover, and live your truth. Building a healthy alliance between you will help identify your path to fulfillment.
Mo bases her counseling methods on the theoretical approaches of person-centered therapy, existential thinking, the role of choice in decision making, and reality. She also uses cognitive behavioral therapy-based interventions.
She is also a member of the American Counseling Association, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Society of Professional Journalists, the National Association of Black Journalists, The Atlanta Press Club, the NAACP, and One Community United.
In her years as a therapist, Mo has developed a knack for connecting with victims of abuse and trauma, anger, and those with severe mental illness. Her use of humor, role play, and unconventional techniques have earned her a reputation for her ability to reach those reluctant to receive services.
