Nancy Sharpe is a clinical social worker with 13 years of experience in the DC Metro Area. Nancy approaches therapy in a holistic mind-body way building awareness of the body's innate wisdom and communication. This might look like exploring what anxiety, depression, or anger feel like in the body as well as the thoughts and beliefs that accompany these sensations.
Nancy current work focuses on adolescents and adults, but she also does some child guidance work with families who are navigating how to help kids who identifies as nuerodivergent thrive. Nancy incorporates grounding exercises in sessions that utilize mindfulness, to explore the experience of the present moment with those clients who are open to that. She also approaches her work using a trauma-informed, and attachment-informed lens to better understand an individual's relationships with others and their relationship with themselves.
Nancy is passionate about supporting adolescents and adults with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or who are living with chronic illness or chronic pain. Being neurodivergent, in a world that doesn't understand or adequately support people with disabilities (and even more so with invisible ones), can be scary and painful. As a cis-gendered, straight, white, differently-abled, woman, Nancy seeks to be an ally to those who identify as LBGTQIA, or who have experienced different forms of oppression based on race, ethnicity, sexual-orientation, gender identify, disability, sex, class, age, or religion. Nancy also enjoys supporting parents of young children or who are managing chronic illness or disability in addition to parenting.
