Professional statement

Nathalie Savell is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor located in Baltimore, MD. Nathalie is passionate about supporting women to feel empowered in their personal and professional lives. She particularly loves working with other therapists who are noticing that they could use the same type of support they offer, and invest some time in committing to their personal growth. She has found that when therapists dedicate time to themselves and do their own work, this impacts not only their personal lives and relationships in a positive manner, but their clinical work as well. Many of Nathalie’s clients are women who want to process their emotions, including discussing stress from work, family, and personal life, find new ways to navigate some of these stressors and integrate helpful practices and mindsets into their every day lives.

Nathalie bases her approach to therapy on an eclectic blend of psychodynamic, positive psychology, mindfulness-based approaches, a holistic framework. She believes that we all have access to inner resources and wisdom and supports clients to tap into that. Her approach is also based in feminism and she encourages women to feel empowered to prioritize their mental health. She is certified in stepfamily coaching, holistic health coaching, and yoga.

Nathalie earned her Master’s degree in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University. She teaches clients how to recognize unhealthy behavior and replace it with healthy positive patterns. Her goal is to collaborate with clients in growing their resilience so they can live their best lives.

Message to clients

It's so helpful for you to have an hour a week to get in touch with yourself, process your experiences, feelings, and relationships, and not have to put on a brave face. I have found it so important especially for other therapists and people in leadership positions to have this dedicated time and space. You are expending so much energy on so many other people and their emotions, and re-filling your proverbial cup is absolutely imperative to the sustainability of your emotional health and your work.

I have worked in many different settings from school, to in-home, to community clinics. I can see how many therapists are stretched thin, practicing in ways that might support their clients but do not ultimately support themselves and hit burn out regularly.

I think it's so important for us to build ways to resource ourselves so that we can be sustainable and truly make a different in the lives of our clients. My hope is that you come to me when you recognize certain aspects of your life are not working for you, and that together we can explore how to build in practices, mindsets, and structures to help you prioritize your mental and emotional well-being in a way that not only you, but everyone in your life benefits from.
