Professional statement

Nell Osborne is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, LCPC based in Northbrook, IL. Nell works with adults who primarily express symptoms related to anxiety and depression while also potentially facing life transitions; such as relationships, parenthood, retirement, or job stressors. Nell has found that using cognitive behavioral therapy along with motivational interviewing and client centered approach is the most effective with these things. Her clients learn to challenge unhelpful thoughts that may be impacting their mood, work performance, and self worth. She also recognizes the powerful impact that a therapeutic environment can facilitate positive thinking patterns which helps increase confidence in navigating these transitions. This form of therapeutic approach often feels more like a conversation that comes natural rather than feeling questioned or judged. Her therapeutic approaches allow the client to take time to invest in yourself while addressing how the client's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all interconnected.

Nell Osborne is trained in trauma therapy often using a trauma informed method to acknowledge and validate previous traumas and experiences while recognizing the need to rewrite internal dialogues and belief systems for the present. Nell was awarded the 2020 Employee of the Year as well as received the 2021 Louise Hassenplug Clinician of the Year award highlighting her attention to detail and care for the client. Nell's therapeutic style ensures the client feels heard and seen in the way they need to make progress in therapy.

In 2021 Nell M Osborne Counseling Services LLC opened in South Carolina where she resided at the time. The office is located in downtown Northbrook, IL with the option for telehealth services if you reside in Illinois or South Carolina.

Message to clients

I became interested in the mental health field while working with Erika's Lighthouse as an adolescent/teen after a friend had died by suicide. As I continued volunteering and working towards my degrees, I found that many kids and adults were lacking a sense of support and feeling of comfort within a therapy office. I have always enjoyed advocating and educating others to feel empowered to fight stigma towards mental health. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors for success in therapy.

Asking for help is often a hard first step while the next step; talking about your feelings, isn’t always the most fun part either. I have created a comfortable space for you to feel validated and ask for the help you need. I aim my practice towards challenging you while also giving you a safe and comfortable space to discuss the main issues you are facing. I make sure therapy isn't scary, but something you can be proud of and excited about. I take pride in creating an environment that allows growth and reflection while also challenging your internal self beliefs.
