Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFTHe/Him/His
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFTNicholas Berry is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Los Angeles, CA. Nicholas strives to help gay men find greater mental health by supporting the development of healthy habits and meaningful relationships. Many of Nicholas’ clients find themselves unfulfilled, whether that’s in their careers, in their hobbies, or with their long term partners. Others become frustrated with dating and find themselves leaving another unsuccessful first date feeling emotionally exhausted. Those who have continuous conflict with their partners or their loved ones also feel burnt out and seek a way to progress their mental health. Nicholas guides his clients through their therapy journeys with warmth and empathy. He welcomes tears, as he knows that personal growth is difficult yet worth it.
Nicholas’ approach to working with clients begins by building strong rapport through active listening and asking questions. Clients describe their backgrounds and their current situations, detailing out their relationships and how those relationships impact them. Nicholas then helps clients develop a heightened awareness of their routines, including how they act in social settings and their internal thought processes. With this awareness comes insight into which behaviors or thought patterns are helpful and which ones need to change. Clients also benefit from talking about their motivations and readiness for change, as Nicholas supports them through effective and lasting change towards healthier ways of living. He brings compassion to each conversation and encourages clients to practice self-compassion, cutting themselves some slack when it comes to difficult situations. He is an affirming and relatable therapist who wants his clients to recognize their own strengths.
Nicholas earned a Master’s degree from California Baptist University. He has nearly ten years of experience working in therapy and empowers clients to accept themselves and their experiences. Clients leave therapy sessions feeling balanced, taking with them the tools they need to navigate their relationships and their mental health.
