She/Her/Hers
Licensed Mental Health Counselor, LMHCShe/Her/Hers
Licensed Mental Health Counselor, LMHCNishtha Agarwal is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Massachusetts and is currently offering therapy online. She works with individuals (adults of all ages) and couples. Many of Nishtha’s clients come in to address relationship issues, depression, life transitions, self-esteem, identity and cultural adjustment issues.
Nishtha is trained in expressive arts therapy, which involves engaging in your creative energies using different art modalities such as dance, music, visual art, journaling stories, and poetry as a tool for emotional expression and healing. She intersperses this with cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, parts work and mindfulness practices, engaging in a client-centered eclectic approach.
In session, Nishtha focuses on grounding tools and somatic practices such as breath work and body movement along with creative expression through the arts. This approach supports clients to get in touch with their emotions and reflective skills, enhance their ability to learn about and contain trauma responses, enable body-mind connection and practice being present in the moment.
Nishtha's style is collaborative and explorative. When clients first start therapy, she meets the client where they are at by creating a comfortable and safe environment for them to embark upon the journey of self-exploration and healing.
Nishtha received her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy from Lesley University. She has worked at community mental health clinics, eating disorder center, schools and universities, and outpatient services in the past. Outside of private practice, she enjoys watching movies, going for walks, hiking, gardening, cooking, painting and writing.
