Professional statement

Oriana Murphy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Marina Del Rey who works with her clients from a relational and collaborative approach as an effort to navigate the challenges they are facing.  Oriana’s clients come to her for a variety of reasons including anxiety/depression, trauma, substance use, life transitions, and maternal mental health.

Oriana has been working in the area of mental health for over 17 years in both the private and public sectors, and has gained experience that has allowed her to provide support to a variety of individuals.  She uses a combined style of attachment focused, CBT, depth psychology, EMDR, and overall trauma-informed care to provide each of her clients the care they need throughout their therapeutic journey.  Oriana does not believe in a “one size fits all” model and collaborates with each client to determine the appropriate course of action for therapy, always in support of what the client's goals are for the process.

Along with her private practice, Oriana has specialized in working in addiction treatment programs in Los Angeles and is passionate about recovery.

Oriana works remotely at this time.

Message to clients

I provide therapy for individuals of all ages and life experiences.  Life can be incredibly complicated and seeking help is a courageous feat, so, welcome to my practice!

I believe that therapy should be a safe landing pad where unresolved and "stuck" patterns can be discovered and untangled, and new skills can be developed. Oftentimes, we don't have spaces where we can we just "be," without having to perform or worry about being judged. Sometimes the therapy room offers the practice to create what this feels like before bringing our authentic self into other spaces. While my experience has been focused on substance use, depression, and anxiety related struggles, I also believe that we can all benefit from a safe place to build tools towards connection and resiliency. Through relational work, together, I  hope to support you in healing past or current trauma of the mind, body, and spirit.  I  intend to offer a space that allows for exploring personal, collective, and generational wounds.

My work is informed by a commitment to social justice, which means that seeing problems and symptoms through a lens of oppressive systems and power dynamics is as important as navigating the personal suffering. I am committed to operating from a strengths perspective and in community with those who I  work with.  We will develop goals together as my role is to support your process in authenticity and living your truth, without me being the expert in your life.
