Professional statement

Oriana Murphy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Culver City who works with her clients from a relational and collaborative approach as an effort to navigate the challenges they are facing.  Oriana’s clients come to her for a variety of reasons including mood challenges, trauma, substance use, life transitions, and maternal mental health.

Oriana has been working in the area of mental health for over 17 years in both the private and public sectors, and has gained experience that has allowed her to provide support to a variety of folks.  She uses a combined style of attachment focused, EMDR, Brainspotting, sociometric techniques, harm reduction, and overall trauma-informed care to provide each of her clients the care they need throughout their therapeutic journey.  Oriana does not believe in a “one size fits all” model and collaborates with each client to determine the appropriate course of action for therapy, always in support of what the client's goals are for the process.

Along with her private practice, Oriana has specialized in working in addiction treatment programs in Los Angeles and is passionate about recovery in all its forms, and in whatever that means for the folks she works with.

Oriana works remotely and in person..

Message to clients

I specialize in trauma-informed care from an anti-oppression, collective care, and liberation lens. I believe in meeting individuals where they are at, and that building safety and support is a community effort that sometimes starts within the therapeutic relationship and grows outward.

I work with folks who are experiencing challenges related to substance use, mood changes, relational/attachment difficulties, and general life transitions. I support and celebrate all identities, relationship orientations, and bodies!

Clinically, my approach is to center the needs of my clients and their communities, by not perceiving myself as the expert, and working in collaboration. While recognizing that many experience marginalization, stigma, and other barriers when attempting to access mental health support, I hope to provide accessible grounding skills to those I work with.

With a recognition of my own privileges within the mental health space, I am dedicated to dismantling the harmful impacts that oppressive structures have had on the individuals and families she hopes to support in their recovery process of healing. Knowing this is a journey that is not always linear, I am committed to guiding individuals along their way.
