Professional statement

Pamela Olausson LCSW is a social worker who specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, grief and loss issues, identity issues, self worth, relationship issues, infertility issues, postpartum depression and anxiety, and parenting issues. She graduated from Smith College School for Social Work and has over 28 years of clinical experience. Most of her experience has been within a private practice working with all ages. Currently she is seeing clients from ages 18 and up. Her practice is online and she can see clients from both Connecticut and Massachusetts as she is licensed in both states. She uses a cognitive behavioral approach and a psychodynamic approach with her clients. She believes in highlighting and using people's strengths to help them to move forward in their lives. In addition, helping people to understand themselves is both empowering and allows for growth.

Message to clients

Everyone experiences difficult times in their lives. These times can feel overwhelming and one may need help and support to overcome their difficulties and issues. I have dedicated my professional life to helping my clients to feel better and to achieve a deeper understanding of their emotions, behaviors, and choices. I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, issues of identity, self worth, relationship difficulties, infertility, postpartum depression and anxiety, parenting issues, and difficulties with transitioning from young adulthood to adulthood. I have worked a lot with people ages 18-26 on the specific issues to that life stage: identity, school and work life adjustment and choices, self esteem and self worth, overall coping skills and stress management. I also have worked a lot with people 26 and above about developing and crafting a healthy life, a positive sense of self, and healthy relationships within their lives. I believe that a good match or fit with a therapist is the starting point of growth. A strong therapeutic connection allows for growth to continue over time and is a healing experience.
