Professional statement

Paul Farley is a Licensed Professional Counselor working in the field with all ages and couples for the last 6 years. He has worked with clients who suffer from depression, anxiety, trauma, sexual identity issues, and addiction. There is not a population of people he does not feel uncomfortable working with.

Paul's therapeutic approach is a combination of cognitive behavioral, humanistic, and solution focused therapy. His primary goal is giving you a safe space to get the root of what is causing your issues. Another goal he has is to help you meet your goals, while becoming obsolete. He wants you to be able to live your life as free as possible and no longer have a need for him.

He is trained in EMDR, which has been an instrumental tool in working with individuals suffering from trauma such as loss of a loved one or rape.

If EMDR does not work for you, there are many other types of therapy you can try together. He would describe his counseling style as non-judgmental, genuine, warm, and solution-focused. He will help you get to wherever you need to go, whether that's a better sense of self, better work ethic, or lower depressive or anxious levels. He is also here if you just need an unbiased 3rd party listen to your issues in a confidential setting.

Message to clients

I'm so glad you decided to reach out for support. It can be so difficult to have few people to talk about your issues with and to not feel like a burden to them. I am confident that with our work together we will be able to come up with reachable goals for you over the course of treatment :). I look forward to helping your reach them.

Here are a couple reminders about psychotherapy: 1.) Benefiting from psychotherapy does require work on your part. Speaking to a therapist for an hour a week, and then pushing it out of your mind, probably won't do you any good. Complete homework, practice your skills, and legitimately try the recommendations you are given. 2.) Therapists should not tell you what to do or try to direct your life. Think of the proverb: "Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach him to fish, and you feed him for life." Therapists will help you learn to solve your own problems, rather than solving them for you.
