Professional statement

Paulette Moore is a licensed professional counselor in Maryland. She specializes in helping those who are struggling with life transitions, anxiety, and depression by teaching them coping skills through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

She understands the struggles and fears that life changes often bring. It's her goal to help you use it as an opportunity for growth and exploration.

In the first session, the focus will be on you and your life. The goal will be to identify the things and times in your life when you were the happiest and then contrast those times with present feelings.

When you finish therapy, you will see change as an opportunity, not as a dreaded, fearful experience. You will see change as one of life's opportunities you won't want to miss out on. You will have a vision of a better life and have the tools to make it a reality.

Paulette uses CBT which involves using logic and doing homework assignments to learn to be a positive thinker. Sometimes she uses "the empty chair," a Gestalt therapy intervention that helps clients see another view separate from their own. She also uses Positive Psychology and brief therapy to teach clients to see the good, keep track of what methods have worked in the past, and adapt them to the current situation.

Paulette is very optimistic. She connects well with clients and is completely absorbed in session conversation. She is good at generating ideas and praising clients for their efforts.
