Professional statement

Peter works with a wide spectrum of clients including those dealing with anxiety, depression, personal or romantic relationship issues as well as clients seeking to work on mindfulness, spirituality and religious identity, self-esteem and stress management.

Coming from a background in religious studies and philosophy, Peter uses a relational, client-centered approach to therapy grounded in developing a strong relationship with clients built on trust and unconditional acceptance. The therapeutic experience involves exploring the ways in which clients create and define meaning in their lives and how to best strive for a sense of belonging in the world.

In session, this means Peter aims to provide and nurture a constructive space wherein clients are able to express themselves freely and explore all dimensions of their personal lives.

Therapy may include mindfulness and meditation practices and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy exercises in order to help clients increase self-awareness and understanding of relationships between thoughts, emotions and behavior. This therapeutic work aims to help clients better understand and navigate their own psychological landscape and improve outlook and functioning.

In 2022, Peter graduated with an MSW from Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service, while working with St. Nicks Alliance as a social worker at an elementary school in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Peter comes to the mental health world after a career in teaching and scholastic chess coaching. Peter is currently available for remote sessions, though anticipates future availability for in-person sessions.

Message to clients

Asking for help can be a tremendously difficult task and you have already taken a great step in your own healing process. Starting therapy is often an intimidating prospect, but together we can collaborate to define what therapy should look and feel like for you. I hope to join you in building a therapeutic relationship built on trust, acceptance, and a shared vision of restorative growth.

My approach is rooted in a commitment to helping clients develop deeper self-awareness through which you will discover a greater connection to self-acceptance and self-love. It is my hope that together we can cultivate an authentic sense of belonging and connectedness to the world.
