Professional statement

Phillip Lentz is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Seattle, WA. He works with adults who are managing difficulties with their own circumstances in life. Many of Phillip’s clients come in to process trauma in the past, navigate identity develop impacting the present, plan for expectations/fears of the future, or some overlapping combination of all three. Phillip has been helpful in collaboratively sorting it out the dynamic layers of symptoms within a client’s experience, making it more manageable for them, both short term and long term.

Phillip is trained in client-centered talk therapy, which uses verbal processing, and the relationship between client and therapist, to identify and organize thoughts and behaviors. In session, Phillip focuses on what the client brings and how each session connects to the overall dynamic of a client’s experience, in order to develop skills for managing problematic symptoms outside of session. This approach supports clients to problem solve on their own, using the experience of session to guide their thought process and resulting behaviors.

Phillip’s style is welcoming, yet challenging. He is intentional around setting up environment where the client can feel heard and understood. Respect and collaboration are very important for the therapeutic relationship to flourish. Phillip is dedicated to providing a relationship that is supportive and encouraging, to promote both safety and growth.

Phillip Lentz received his Master in Counseling Psychology from the Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. They gained experience at psychiatric residential facilities, counseling centers within a college setting, and within a community mental health agency. The range of experience has allowed Phillip to understand and empathize with even the most confusing presentations.

Message to clients

I believe that in therapy, we use the relationship between client and therapist to address the challenges you bring to our sessions. This involves telling your story and relating it back to the context of the therapeutic relationship. It is within these relational patterns that develop in the counseling relationship that allow you to gain a better awareness of yourself and greater insight into the nature of your challenges. Together, we process those challenges in session, through story and relationship, to provide you with the tools to prosper outside of session.

Due to the current global pandemic, my practice is completely telehealth, over video chat. I currently do not bill insurance, but can provide support around out-of-network reimbursement. It is one way I can assure the highest degree of privacy, flexibility and control of mental health records. My current rate is $150.00 for a 50 minute individual session. I am currently offering sliding scale, for active students, with limited availability.

Feel free to email or call me with any questions!
