Licensed Master Social Worker, LMSW Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSWPinny Farkas is an LCSW practicing in both Woodmere, NY and the East Village, NYC. He sees patients in-person as well as online. Pinny received his Masters Degree of Social Work from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work in Washington Heights, NY. He worked at various schools and clinics in the NYC and Long Island areas before starting his own practice in 2015.
In his private practice, Pinny utilizes the different modalities and approaches in which he has been trained, tailoring his sessions to each individual patient. These include CBT, Psychodynamic therapy, and a certificate in human sexuality. He builds his therapy sessions around his patients’ goals. To Pinny, all successful therapy must start with a good provider-patient relationship, and he focuses on creating a natural and trusting relationship, which is the basis on which true growth and development can begin. Patients often remark that they appreciate Pinny's ability to relate to them at the place where they are, and that he incorporates his sense of humor into the therapy sessions when appropriate. This makes them feel lighter and increases their level of comfort.
Pinny encourages his patients to set goals, and supports them along the way. He tends to have a holistic approach, and likes to check in with patients about all aspects of their lives, including physical wellbeing, level of functioning, and personal hygiene, as well as how they currently manage challenges and struggles. Pinny believes that proper physical, mental, and emotional self-care are vital to optimal mental health.
