Rachel Lindheim is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with high-achieving professionals in a range of fields and life stages. Many clients seek to enhance emotional connection in their relationships, to move past self-criticism, and to find a greater sense of meaning in their lives. They want to tackle unhelpful habits developed during the pandemic, to decrease stress by establishing greater work-life balance, to find professional and personal satisfaction by clarifying core values. Rachel helps her clients process issues such as anxiety, depression, loss, relationship difficulties, and works collaboratively with them to set goals, develop coping skills, and become aware of underlying barriers to well-being.
Rachel’s therapeutic approach is psychodynamic and investigates key relationships, past and present, that have shaped clients’ beliefs about themselves and their interactions with others. She draws on mindfulness-based therapies to provide coping skills and works with trauma-informed modalities to help clients understand connections between bodily responses and emotional states; this fosters an ability to anticipate, and work through difficult feelings. Together, these approaches allow clients to become less reactive and to make purposeful choices.
Rachel’s open, interactive approach to therapy provides an empathetic environment where clients are at ease exploring emotions and concerns. She brings a particular attention, honed through years in academia (PhD. Art History, U. Chicago), to narrative patterns and dynamics of interpersonal exchange. This lens helps clients reflect analytically and reframe central challenges, which facilitates their ability to create lives that feel authentic. Additionally, her background in the arts helps her relate to the challenges that creative individuals encounter, and her experience in school-based health provides an understanding of issues facing teens and the importance of healthy family support systems.
Rachel welcomes adults, teens, and families in her practice. She offers remote sessions which allow her clients greater flexibility.
