She/Her/Hers
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT Psychologist, PsyDShe/Her/Hers
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT Psychologist, PsyDDr. Rachel Seifert is a Therapist in Chico, California. She works both with individuals and couples. Many of Rae’s clients come in to address anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and stress amongst other concerns. Rae is particularly passionate about serving adults ages 18-40. She also has advanced training in treating the areas of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and Major Depressive Disorder (MDD).
Rae is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, client-centered therapy, and holistic approaches such as mindfulness. Through these approaches we examine thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors, understand what is or isn't working, and shift them to healthier habits. We use the therapeutic relationship to look at how patterns of interaction have developed and can be used to strengthen connections outside of session. We meet each client with unconditional positive regard and support, trusting that once attuned with the self, we are all the experts of our own lives. In session, Rae focuses on breathing exercises and grounding tools that can be practiced in stressful situations, retraining the brain to shift from maladaptive to positive thought patterns, and practicing true self-compassion with respect to the difficulties of being human. This approach supports clients to feel more relaxed and present, learn to trust their inherent instincts, and lead a life they can be proud of. Rae's style is warm, thoughtful, and non-judgmental.
Rae received her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) as well as her Doctorate in Psychology (PsyD) from Touro University Worldwide. She has worked at local community clinics, serving youth and young adults from low-income communities. Outside of private practice, she enjoys paddle boarding, cooking, and hiking in the mountains around Chico with her pup, Peanut. Rae currently offers exclusively remote therapy sessions.
