Rachel Shubert is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Illinois who works both in-person and online with adults facing a range of issues. Many of Rachel's clients are bright, passionate 20- and 30-somethings who feel mystified by the disconnect between their overall intelligence and the emotional/behavioral struggles they tend to keep as hidden as possible. Additionally, many clients are neurodivergent, highly sensitive, and/or creative.
Working as a mental health practitioner in a rural area means that Rachel has helped people deal with a wide variety of concerns, as a rigid specialization would result in turning people away in an under-resourced region. (It also means she understands small town life, with all its pros and cons and mental health implications!) At the same time, Rachel has a particular interest in helping folks across the state of Illinois with skin and hair disorders, which you can read more about below.
Rachel tailors her treatment approach to the individual and uses a variety of methods, but always delivers them in a warm, approachable style. Clients set their own goals. The whole person is worked with in session--thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. Out of this comes clarity and the possibility of transformation.
In addition to her counseling credentials, Rachel is a certified mindfulness meditation instructor. She incorporates those skills into therapy sessions as needed. She would love for you to join one of her shame and stigma-busting therapy groups, or to hear from you about a group you need that doesn't yet exist.
