Rachel Sykes is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in downtown Boston, Massachusetts. She is passionate about helping stressed out professional women who are unfulfilled personally and/or professionally regain their confidence and experience joy in their life. Her clients have typically worked hard in life and expected that their accomplishments would make them happy but have realized that something is missing. They are embarrassed to admit how they feel to friends and family, and they feel ungrateful and alone. For couples clients, they are often struggling with similar issues and need some help improving communication, addressing injuries to the relationship, and equitably sharing the work and emotional loads.
Rachel helps her clients reduce stress, lessen anxiety and depression, improve satisfaction in career and family life, and regain hope and confidence. She pulls from a broad range of counseling methodologies, including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, narrative, and mindfulness theories to identify client stressors and appropriate strategies for treatment. She helps clients evaluate their current tools for dealing with stress and offers new ways to cope that are effective and don't create additional problems over time. She can also help you set goals, monitor your progress and identify possible obstacles. By employing these and other strategies, Rachel strives to help clients increase resiliency, feel more engaged in their relationships, and spend more time enjoying the good things in their life.
Rachel completed her M.Ed. in mental health counseling and recently opened her own practice in downtown Boston offering telehealth, in-person, and walk and talk sessions. Prior to entering the counseling field, Rachel worked in the investment field where she completed her MBA and earned the right to use the CFA designation. She is also a certified yoga instructor and has taught both finance and counseling at local universities.
