Dr. Reed Maxwell, Ph.D., ABPP (Clinical) is a board-certified clinical psychologist offering an array of online psychological services including psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, assessment (e.g., court-ordered psychodiagnostic testing), and consultation/coaching to individuals and businesses throughout the five boroughs. Dr. Maxwell completed his doctoral training at a “public Ivy” research university in upstate New York, and completed two years of postdoctoral training with the Personality Disorders Institute at Weill Cornell Medicine and the Center for Psychoanalytic Research and Training at Columbia University in the city. He specializes in helping diverse, highly motivated people flourish in all domains of life, including relationships, career/education, and self-actualization. He uses a combination of cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic evidence-based approaches to help folks make the changes they wish to make in life, as well as identify the lives they truly wish to lead.
Dr. Maxwell is also available to conduct court-ordered or other-related assessments remotely, including competency evaluations, cognitive/intellectual assessments, and comprehensive psychodiagnostic evaluations. Dr. Maxwell has conducted over 20 court-ordered evaluations throughout Missouri and Kansas since 2022 and remains an in-demand expert witness among public defenders throughout both states. Dr. Maxwell also supervises and educates graduate trainees in assessment and diagnosis as an adjunct associate professor with a newly-minted clinical psychology doctoral program in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area.
Concerning specialty assessments, Dr. Maxwell offers neurodivergence evaluations for adults (i.e., autism spectrum and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorders), as well as comprehensive assessments of personality and personality psychopathology. Dr. Maxwell received two years of highly specialized training in personality assessment at Weill Cornell Medicine as a postdoctoral associate, and he is able to parse complex personality patterns to help folks understand themselves and their relationships.
