Professional statement

Rick Rodgers is a Social Worker and Yoga teacher who lives in Terre Haute Indiana. He is originally from the Chicago suburb of Aurora Illinois. This is why Rick is licensed in both Indiana and Illinois.

Eleven years ago Rick returned from Afghanistan as an Infantryman in the Army. After seeing what many of his peers went through upon return, Rick wanted to help. He was worried about his comrades who were dealing with PTSD, depression, addiction, and domestic violence issues. This is when Rick went into Behavioral Health.

Rick has a vast background in dealing with mental health and addiction issues. Rick specializes in trauma therapy. Rick uses different modalities such as Cognitive Processing Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. He knows it is important to take a strengths-based approach to his patients and not to take a one size fits all approach. Upon assessment with the patient, Rick and the patient will work together to find the best solution for the patient's problem.

Message to clients

It has been in my heart to be a therapist ever since I was young. I truly find purpose in helping others and improving your quality of life. This is why I added to my practice with Yoga. I want to ensure that I have the tools to help you reach your goals.

If you are open and willing, you can make a change. The biggest reason I see people not moving forward with change is that facing trauma is extremely uncomfortable, and who can blame them. With me, I use Cognitive Processing Therapy. This means we don't go into detail about your trauma unless you want to. Our main goal is to figure out what is keeping you stuck, and help you get unstuck.

I think working as a team is the most important thing. I am not going to make you do anything you don't want to do. I may make suggestions you disagree with, and that's okay. This is your treatment and my goal is to give you the tools and challenge you to reach your goals. We are looking for small changes, as most change does not happen overnight. I have confidence that you can make that change.
