Professional statement

Richelle Dowell is an Independent Clinical Social Worker and the co-owner of BeWell Therapy Collaborative located in Coventry, RI. Richelle and her team provide mental health services for young adults and adults, including those going through major life transitions like starting a new relationship, switching careers, or growing their families. Richelle specializes in helping individuals move past shame so that they aren’t held back from feelings of unworthiness. Richelle also works with clients through pregnancy and postpartum as they adjust to new parenthood. Her goal is to target perfectionism and to boost clients’ self-esteem.

Richelle and her team practice multiple evidence-based therapy modalities. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), both thought-based therapies, to help clients address self-criticism and negative thought patterns. Clients also practice coping strategies, finding the right one that works for them. Richelle and her team also teach clients how to grow their self-compassion practices to enhance their self-love and acceptance. This can be helpful in the development of self-esteem and confidence. She takes a strengths-based approach, encouraging clients to internalize their traits that make them unique and resilient.

Richelle earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from Rhode Island College and opened The BeWell Therapy Collaborative in 2023. She has eight years of experience as a social worker and six years of experience as a clinical supervisor.
