Professional statement

Riley is a mental health therapist based out of Haines Alaska that works with individual adults through telehealth. He draws upon many different treatment approaches to partner with his clients to collaboratively create an approach which honors the uniqueness of their personality and their context. In therapy with Riley you can expect a warm, compassionate partnership where you can tell your story and come away with new insights and skills to help you move forward in your journey.

Prior to starting Boreal Therapy from his homestead outside of Haines, Riley worked in community mental health settings in both Haines and Wrangell Alaska and also provided Telehealth services to clients all over Southeast Alaska. While he has a wealth of experience in issues common to rural Alaska, Riley specializes in helping people suffering from anxiety and overwhelming stress. Many of Riley's clients describe him as down to earth and practical and appreciate his combination of clinical expertise, humor and compassion.

To meet with Riley you need only have a quiet, private space with a good internet connection.

Message to clients

I'm glad you're taking the time to check out my profile. Odds are that if you're reading this you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed and stuck. I know what that's like; feeling like you're ready for and needing to make changes but not sure where to start. Maybe not even quite realizing what's wrong that is causing you to feel this way. Maybe it's your work, maybe it's too many responsibilities that have wracked up or perhaps a caustic relationship that is slowly corroding your resilience.

As uncomfortable as we all find anxiety, it's important to know that it is one of the ways that your body signals your mind to tell us something important about the way that you're living your life. Therefore, in addition to helping you learn how to cope with your anxiety, I also want to help you come to a better understanding for why you are feeling those sensations in the first place. Why is it that your body needs to send you those signals? What are they telling us about where you are at in your journey? If you are interested in both reducing symptoms and growing as a person then therapy can be indispensable in this process. If you would like to talk about what it would be like to work with me, I invite you to reach out for a free consultation to chat with me about what that process would be like.
