Professional statement

The most painful things for most people are that crushing sense of loneliness and not feeling being part of any group, struggling with identity, not feeling as good as others or worthy enough, and not being able to bounce back from adversity.

Intensive Psychotherapy is a departure from other psychotherapy in three ways. First, we meet four days a week for four weeks. Second, you are the only Intensive Psychotherapy client that I see during those four weeks. You will have my full attention instead of dividing my attention among twenty or thirty other people. And third, the therapy I do, AEDP, is an emotion-focused therapy that quickly gets to the root of the problem and heals from the inside out. It prioritizes positive and transformative thinking, believes that a true and deep connection with the therapist is an essential condition for growth, and focuses on lived experience rather than discussing issues.

I have been in the mental health field since 1982, and I have been a licensed psychologist since 1992. I got my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the Professional School of Psychology, and in 2002 I earned a Post-Doctoral Master of Science in Clinical Psychopharmacology. For seven years, I was on the faculty of a Family Practice Residency program faculty training Family doctors about doctor-patient relationships, counseling skills, and prescribing psychiatric medications. For many years, I also practiced as a neuropsychologist administering various kinds of tests to find out how a person's brain works. Neuroscience is still of great interest to me. I was often an expert witness in state and federal courts.

My interest is in providing you with the fastest and most effective psychotherapeutic experience that will change your life for good.

Message to clients

My goal is to end suffering and to make everyone whole. When people meet me they often say that they feel like they are meeting an old friend for the first time. Here you will find warmth and respect, understanding and caring without judgment, but with confidentiality and safety.

Intensive Psychotherapy is intense and it takes preparation, focus, and clear intentions. Call me so that together we can clarify what you want . I'll help you prepare for starting Intensive Psychotherapy. This is the kind of thing you make plans for and it may take a while to get started since I see only one person at a time. You may need to collect funds and make other preparations for times in your schedule and other things. Let's talk so we can figure out what you need and when we can start.

I see that my patients make as much progress in a month as most people make in two to four years of therapy. That is the result of the intensive schedule and from having the entire focus of my attention. And yet, I have tried to make Intensive Psychotherapy economical for you. It costs less than half of what it would cost to see me once a week for a year.
