Professional statement

Rosemary MacLaughlin is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in Sacramento, CA. Rosemary helps clients who suffer from anxiety, depression, eating disorders, conflicts in relationships, and those experiencing grief. Many of Rosemary’s clients feel overwhelmed by their emotions, sometimes turning towards eating too little or too much as a way of coping with these deep-seated feelings. Other clients find it hard to relax or “turn off,” constantly worrying about what other people think of them. Rosemary supports these clients in finding peace within themselves and moving forward.

Rosemary has worked in a variety of settings including adolescent and adult intensive outpatient services for depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. She has facilitated group therapy in many facets and has worked in and out of the hospital setting. She draws on her vast experience to help each of her clients in their unique situations. She is certified in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, a therapy style that relies on values, mindfulness, goals, and taking manageable steps. Rosemary assists clients as they determine what their mental health goals are and guides the development of tools to get them to those goals. She also draws from Narrative Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), bringing diverse modalities to each session. Rosemary believes that each client has different needs, therefore she draws from multiple types of therapy for an all-encompassing approach.

Rosemary earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from California State University Sacramento in 2005. She earned her License in Clinical Social Work to provide Psychotherapy in 2009. She creates a warm, trusting environment for clients to feel comfortable talking about their experiences and expressing their ideas. Rosemary then supports clients in decreasing their harmful coping skills and boosting healthy ways to manage their feelings.
