Professional statement

Dr. Ruth Glass is a licensed psychologist working with California and New York-based individuals. She specializes in treating adults in their 20's and 30's with ADHD and anxiety. She also specializes in working with new parents.

Adults in her practice with ADHD tend to struggle with feeling overwhelmed at work, procrastinating, feeling like they are not functioning like an "adult," their partners getting fed up with them, trouble regulating emotions, losing things, struggling to get to sleep on time or maintain exercise goals, and significant shame.

In new parents, common issues seen are patients thinking that their families deserve someone better than them, severe anxiety surrounding feeding, feeling judged by others, feeling zoned out and depressed, fears of being away from their baby, and much more.

Dr. Glass treats many individuals who's main concern is anxiety. Clients tend to have worries and often physical symptoms as well, and/or panic attacks. Worries can be about all aspects of one's life, such as about perceived judgments from others, family interactions, falling behind at work, financial struggles, finding a job, perfectionism, health symptoms, needles and medical settings, and driving, to name a few. Obsessive-compulsive features are common as well, including intrusive thoughts about harming themselves or others, fears of germs or contamination, fears of something bad happening to their loved ones, and the associated compulsions that come along with those obsessions.

Dr. Glass tackles these issues by drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based approaches (eg. ACT, DBT). Among other approaches, ADHD interventions involve significant problem-solving of the barriers that have been getting in the way of accomplishing tasks. Anxiety interventions tackle how we think about situations, and stopping avoidance.
