Professional statement

Dr. RuthAnn Lester is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who considers her job a blessing. She supports adults with mood concerns, trauma, grief, relationship problems, life changes, and general stress. She has specialized training in insomnia and will quickly highlight that when you sleep better, everything else improves. RuthAnn identifies as Christian and particularly loves working with people who want to incorporate their faith, Christian or otherwise, into therapy. She is also an Ally. RuthAnn deeply appreciates working with people who serve in frontline settings. And she is a great fit for anyone who likes to "nerd out" about mental health. Overall, RuthAnn loves helping people who are ready to collaborate to heal, make changes, and grow.

People who have done therapy with RuthAnn would tell you her style is warm, encouraging, and action oriented. You are as likely to laugh as you are to cry in any given appointment. RuthAnn’s approach to therapy is to frontload treatment with education and skills work, which prioritizes symptom reduction. This helps build trust so that the therapeutic relationship can develop and deepen.

RuthAnn’s therapeutic philosophy is trauma-informed and influenced by ACT, an approach that supports values-guided action. However, with an assertion that every person is unique, her care is highly integrated and can include elements of CBT, DBT, and other modalities. RuthAnn seeks to tailor treatment in a manner that reflects a biopsychosocial-spiritual understanding of people.

RuthAnn resides in CO but is accepting clients in all PsyPact states. She sees clients in person in Westminster, CO and by telehealth. Whether you are new at this, or just ready for the next episode of care in your ongoing process, RuthAnn considers it a privilege to help take good care of you.

Message to clients

Let me assure you, there are many ways to “do therapy well.” Therapy can be brief and educational; therapy can be ongoing and relational; therapy can be intermittent with “episodes of care” here and there as needed. I have seen all these approaches work with people I have supported over the years. My goal as your therapist is to collaborate with you as the unique soul you are to figure out how we can work well together.

The more you open up to me, the better equipped I will be to help us figure out what effective treatment looks like for you. I enjoy making that as easy as possible for you. I am an adaptable therapist, who uses humor, education, my own humanity, and an integrated approach to make our work together as effective as possible. To simplify what it is like to work with me down to its most basic level, I’d say my goal is to help us have healing conversations as often as needed until you feel like our work is done. I will give you support, encouragement, education, and challenges all along the way until we get there.

My appointments are by telehealth and in person in my Westminster, CO office. If you are even a tiny bit curious about whether we might be a good fit, go ahead and schedule a call with me. I’d love to help you figure out your next steps to take good care of you.
