Professional statement

Ryan Chandler is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor based in Los Angeles, CA. Ryan completed his academic training at Springfield College, which ascribes to the philosophy of Humanics, the age-old Greek ideal of the balanced individual. Ryan believes that a person’s emotional, intellectual, and physical lives are interconnected. The Humanics philosophy calls for the integration of the whole person - in spirit, mind, and body.

In Ryan's clinical practice as a psychotherapist, he believes that in order to heal from the past, we must heal the whole person - in spirit, mind, and body. In order to treat the mind, Ryan believes that we cannot forget about the body and the spirit. Ryan's approach is a blend of traditional psychotherapies, body-based practices, and holistic approaches.

Ryan has experience working in both inpatient and outpatient settings (i.e., community mental health centers, private agencies, drug and alcohol treatment centers, and schools) with a variety of client populations (children, families, and individuals). Ryan has been in private practice since 2014 and has specializations in attachment and relationship issues, men’s issues, LGBT and gender identity, trauma and PTSD, and alcohol/drug addiction.

Message to clients

It takes a great deal of courage to ask for help. Appreciating and respecting that courage, my work is to help my clients attain their goals, discarding whatever has prevented them from doing so in the past. I consider therapy a collaborative effort between the individual and therapist. My hope is that the clients with whom I work feel supported and empowered to make the changes they desire.

Treatment focuses on increasing awareness about life patterns, building on strengths, and developing new coping abilities. My professional strengths include: a knowledge of a variety of presenting issues and treatment options, an innate ability to connect easily with clients, and the capacity to incorporate the realities of daily living into the process.
