Ryoko Moriguchi
She/Her/Hers
Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist, LCMFT Master of Arts, MAShe/Her/Hers
Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist, LCMFT Master of Arts, MARyoko Moriguchi is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with a private practice in San Francisco Mission District. She works with adult clients who are dealing with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and complex PTSD. Her clients come from all walks of their lives, and they are all dealing with symptoms and signs of PTSD or other trauma related issues such as emotional pain, relationship difficulties, and addiction.
Ryoko incorporates Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) into her clinical practice. Ryoko was first trained in EMDR in 2017, and she became certified as a EMDR therapist by the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) in 2020. She finds EMDR a game changer in her practice because she has been witnessing many of her clients be able to experience significant relief from their trauma symptoms and develop healthy and more adaptive perspectives about themselves in therapy.
Long before she became licensed as a therapist, Ryoko studied addiction counseling and worked for various community behavioral organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area as a clinician specializing in addiction and severe mental illness. Her experience helped her to develop deep understanding about how people with addiction have experienced trauma in their early lives such as abuse, neglect, or/and various attachment injuries by their caregivers. Ryoko became motivated to be trained in various therapeutic models and techniques that are effective to help clients with trauma.
As a bilingual and bicultural therapist, Ryoko is committed to maintaining an inclusive practice. Her therapy style is down to earth, active, non-judgmental and intuitive. She believes that her curiosity and trust in clients’ own ability to heal are important ingredients in therapy.
