Professional statement

S. Kay Sanchez Franco, LMFT is a therapist based out of Los Angeles, CA. She specializes in ADHD, Trauma, and identity. Additionally, S. Kay provides Multicultural Counseling consultations and trainings to paraprofessionals and professionals in the Mental Health and Medical Healthcare systems. S. Kay operates from an understanding of people within the context of their environment, and holds that we can only change what we are aware of. Often, our backgrounds of where we are from and the experiences we've lived through, shape our thoughts and perceptions of ourselves and others. When we are unaware of the how's and why's that we have internalized, they can dictate the outcomes of our relationships and our overall wellbeing. By not separating the self from the circumstances that shape the self, we can actually achieve non-judgmental awareness and growth. This is not just true for her clients but also for the professionals she provides consultation and training to.

Her educational background includes a Bachelors and Masters degrees in clinical counseling psychology as well as a concentration in Drama Therapy. Drama Therapy is the use of creative and performance arts modalities within the therapeutic setting, particularly with severe trauma. These modalities provide an alternative way of exploring, processing, and making sense of, and moving through that which is too painful to directly speak to. S. Kay has adapted these to fit the telehealth model and offers these specific interventions to anyone who is interested in exploring them. You do not have to be an artist, actor, or even consider yourself creative at all in order to explore these or benefit from them.

S. Kay provides telehealth services only at this time, accepts major insurances, and provides a sliding scale cash pay rate to those out of network.

Message to clients

Research shows that beyond the various different modalities, interventions, and therapeutic styles, the most important factor is the client/therapist fit. In other words do you like your therapist? Do you feel comfortable with them and feel like they understand you? Does your therapist have experience and knowledge relevant to your unique therapeutic goals?

This is why I offer a free phone consultation to make sure it's the right fit! I have provided times where I am available for these consultations here in Zencare. However, if you don't see a time that works for you, please don't hesitate to reach out and message me with a date and time that does work.
