Professional statement

Sabrina Tropper is a licensed Mental Health Counselor located in New York, NY. Sabrina’s specialty is helping those whose people pleasing tendencies leave them feeling emotionally exhausted and burned out. Many of these clients don’t prioritize their own wellbeing, instead focusing on making sure that everyone else feels comfortable. This behavioral pattern may stem from trauma or past experiences that caused anxiety. Sabrina’s clients seek assertiveness skills and ways to set boundaries with others. They also want to learn how to feel more fulfilled in their lives, as their current ways of seeking happiness aren’t working.

Sabrina is skilled in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, a therapy modality that uses body-based strategies to promote change. EMDR is helpful for those who feel stuck in emotional reactions, and it can be useful in overcoming trauma. Sabrina also incorporates Internal Family Systems therapy and psychodynamic therapy into her sessions to encourage clients to reflect on their backgrounds and early experiences. She guides them through consideration of their deeply held beliefs, which guide the way they interact with others.

Sabrina earned a Master’s degree from Baruch College, the City University of New York. She has a background in social welfare, and is a passionate advocate for several social justice topics, including feminism. She brings this passion into her work with clients, empowering them to combat the societal expectations placed on them to live more fulfilling and authentic lives. Sabrina offers remote therapy sessions exclusively.

Message to clients

As a therapist, I am of the firm belief that your past does not determine your future. My hope is that you will leave therapy with this belief yourself, after watching your own transformation in sessions. I am also an active therapist and have been known to gently challenge my clients when needed.

Prior to starting therapy, I will get as much information about your background in our intro call in order to ensure that we work well together. If my skills are not a good fit for your needs, then I will provide you with referrals for other therapists. My goal is to help you get the best treatment that you deserve.
