Sammy is a therapist and yoga teacher based in Brooklyn, NY. He specializes in helping folks through the various challenges that arise throughout our lives, including conflicts with loved ones and coworkers, low self-esteem and self-worth, unhealthy habits, and adjustment to transition. Sammy works collaboratively with each client to develop trust in themselves and to practice self-compassion as they work through difficult situations. Ultimately, he seeks to provide clients the space to explore their lives and discover a sense of meaning and peace of mind.
Sammy draws from therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based therapy practice, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). He begins each therapeutic relationship by building strong rapport through listening and validating the clients’ thoughts, feelings, and fears. As a strengths-based clinician, Sammy sees the best in each client and teaches clients how to recognize the innate good in themselves, as well. In addition to fostering self-compassion, Sammy also helps clients develop greater awareness of their thought patterns, especially those patterns that are harmful and lead to the perpetuation of harmful behaviors.
Sammy earned a Master’s degree from the University of Southern California, and he combines traditional psychotherapy practices with philosophical concepts from Buddhism. Sammy has experience teaching meditation and yoga and enjoys bringing elements of mindfulness into his sessions with clients.
