Sarah Meckler
She/Her/Hers
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSWShe/Her/Hers
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSWSarah Meckler is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in reducing anxiety and depression, improving relationship dynamics, facilitating a deeper understanding of family issues, healing from trauma, and assisting and supporting through life transitions. She has extensive experience working with LGBTQA+ communities, people who practice non-monogamy, adults, young adults, adolescents, and parents.
Sarah's therapeutic approach is to help her clients explore the root causes of their challenges and/or symptoms. Her work is grounded by the principle that our past directly impacts our present lives and that through increased understanding, awareness, and insight we are able to gain greater control over behaviors and patterns that may be holding us back in life. Sarah also works through a social justice and anti-oppression lens and think it's necessary to acknowledge the way oppressive systems harm us. In addition, she emphasizes sitting with and experiencing a full range of emotions based on our experiences. Through an honest and complete experiencing and articulation of our emotions, we are able to heal.
With almost 20 years post-graduate experience, Sarah is passionate about the work she does and cares about each of her clients. She is supportive and offers a nonjudgmental space for individuals. She ultimately wants her clients to live an authentic life. Before working exclusively as a psychotherapist, Sarah worked with young adults who had a complex trauma history in a nonprofit setting. Sarah is currently providing telehealth sessions, but plans to offer in-person sessions in Brooklyn in the near future.
Sarah finds it incredibly rewarding to see the amount of growth and change that people are capable of. Being able to witness peoples' journeys to happier more satisfied lives brings about much gratification.
